How to Get Your Child's SwimSafer Certificate
Registering on CAMS, the three-week deadline, the theory quiz, and where the certificate actually appears.
SwimSafer assessments are booked, paid for and certified through CAMS — the Centralised Assessment Management System. Everything below happens there, at saqswimsg.org.sg.
The deadline that catches people out
Registration closes exactly three weeks before the assessment, to the minute. An assessment on 21 September at 11:30am closes on 31 August at 11:30am. Both the coach's validation and your payment must be done by then, or the registration does not stand.
Step by step
- Create a CAMS account. Every participant needs one, at saqswimsg.org.sg. Personal details can be edited later under “My Profile”.
- Register for the practical assessment at the right stage, date and venue.
- Your coach validates the registration. The recognised SwimSafer coach tagged to your child has to confirm it. This must happen before the closing deadline — so tell your coach as soon as you book, do not assume they have been notified in time.
- Pay before the deadline. Log in, go to “My Cart”, complete payment. Validation without payment is not a registration.
- Submit the parental consent form at go.gov.sg/ssconsent before the day. Keep the confirmation email — you must show it at the registration counter.
- Turn up early on assessment day. The counter opens 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Arriving late means being declined.
- Take the online theory quiz. It unlocks once registration succeeds, under “My Quizzes”. Pass mark is 90%, attempts are unlimited, and it must be passed within seven days after the practical assessment date.
- Download the certificate. It appears on CAMS once both the practical assessment and the theory quiz are complete.
What to bring on the day
| Stage | Clothing required |
|---|---|
| Stages 1–4 (to Bronze) | Swimwear, plus t-shirt and shorts |
| Stages 5–6 (Silver, Gold) | Swimwear, plus t-shirt and long pants |
Turning up without the right clothing, or at the wrong venue, results in the participant being declined.
Bring goggles as well. They are allowed for the swimming portion of every stage — the strokes and timed distances — but not for the survival sequences, which are the rest of the assessment. Your child will be putting them on and taking them off.
Results, appeals and rescheduling
| Results | Within 48 hours, on CAMS under “My Results” |
|---|---|
| Appeals | Through CAMS, within 72 hours of results being released |
| Rescheduling | Allowed any time before the registration closing deadline. The new date must fall within six months of the original. |
| Bad weather | Assessments cancelled for weather are eligible for a rescheduled date |
| Illness | Absence with a valid medical reason is eligible for rescheduling. Email the MC to Rescheduling.swimsafer@sgaquatics.org.sg |
Where old certificates live
Certificates earned from July 2025 onwards are retrieved on the CAMS platform. Certificates earned before July 2025 are still retrieved from FileSG through ActiveSG SwimSafer. If you are hunting for an older sibling's certificate and cannot find it on CAMS, that is why.
